Mike Holt

Director

Profile

Mike brings 25 years’ experience leading, managing and nurturing technology and innovation companies in the US and Asia, ranging from incubation and leadership of startups to general management of $200m technology businesses.

Mike is Managing Partner of Get2Volume, a Singapore and Silicon Valley technology incubation and advisory firm.

Previously, Mike held engineering, marketing and product line management positions at Texas Instruments and Silicon Systems.

Dr Ronald Ling

Chief Executive Officer

Profile

Ronald is a medically-qualified senior business executive with more than 25 years’ experience in healthcare management, investment and consulting.

He has deep knowledge of healthcare systems across a range of Asian markets and extensive operational experience in enhancing productivity, access and cost-effectiveness in healthcare.

Ronald’s prior work experience includes positions as Leader of Pricewaterhouse Coopers’ Healthcare practice across Asia, Partner at Symphony Capital Partners (an Asian private equity firm), Board of Director at Parkway Holdings (a large pan-Asian private healthcare provider) and as a consultant with McKinsey and Company.

Jen Kwong Hwa

Director

Profile

Jen is currently an angel investor and business advisor to startups and SMEs. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of Micron Semiconductors in Singapore and an engineer by training.

He started his career in Texas Instruments in 1979 and joined Micron in 1998 following Micron’s acquisition of TI’s memory business.

Jen has extensive experience in the semiconductor industry and has been involved in shaping Singapore’s national strategic initiatives in this area. He is member of the Board of Advisors to the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association, member of the Governing Council of Singapore Institute of Management and serves on the boards of several startups.

ENGINEERING TEAM

Chris Forno

Technical Advisor, Development

Profile

Chris is an experienced CTO level executive who was instrumental in the build of Zalora’s technology platform as Director of Engineering.  At Zalora he built a team of more than 20 Data Scientists, Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and other technical staff.  He has experience in design and implementation of sophisticated data warehousing, content management systems, technical scale-up of high-growth tech businesses and system security.   

Chris’s involvement with ConnectedHealth started in late 2019 when he was engaged through the Singapore Data Company for a full systems review of SugoSure.  He currently formally advises ConnectedHealth on: 

  • Building the Engineering team with the right mix of skill sets, including selection of new hires and on-boarding 
  • Overseeing work quality and productivity through code reviews and coaching 
  • Advising on Systems Architecture, Integrations and implementation approaches for the SugoSure Roadmap 

    Rene Schultz

    Director, Engineering

    Profile

    Rene is an experienced software engineer who has worked extensively with SaaS startups globally as a CTO and other lead engineering roles. In addition to various consulting projects, Rene has worked extensively with California-based Bertholf Ventures as Director of Engineering where he has led development of hospitality and education solutions for Kndrd, Inc. and ClimbHI from an early stage to commercialisation.

    Rene brings to ConnectedHealth a combination of deep engineering skills and strong customer focus with a proven track-record of high quality execution. He has deep expertise in database and API design implemented through the Laravel framework as well as experience in systems administration.

    As an early adopter of remote work he has been travelling for 5+ years in over 80 countries, leading diverse and distributed teams from all over the world. Rene has a BSc in Computer Engineering from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and has also been a participant of Techstars, one of the worlds’ most prestigious accelerator programs.

    Vera Jin

    Technical Advisor, Systems Operations

    Profile

    Dr Vera Jin is an experienced senior technology executive who has spent 14 years in leadership and operational roles with Sopra Steria, a leading European IT services group focusing on digital transformation. 

    Vera has deep experience in IT infrastructure management and business process implementation which she contributes through her formal Advisory role to: 

    • Plan and guide set-up/growth of DevOps, Helpdesk and Systems Admin functions 
    • Support recruitment and coaching of the Systems Operations team 
    • Assist in design and implementation of monitoring dashboards to ensure delivery of SugoSure at the highest service levels 

    Vera has a strong academic background with an MSc in Control and Optimisation Systems (Chinese Academy of Sciences) and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence in Highway Incident Detection (National University of Singapore).  Her knowledge of Artificial Neural Network and Deep Learning, Fuzzy Reasoning, Data Science and Analytics will be highly relevant to SugoSure’s medium term roadmap objective of incorporating AI and Analytics capabilities. 

    Wessam Ahmed

    Backend Systems Developer

    Profile

    Sam focuses on backend system development as part of the SugoSure engineering team.  His responsibilities include maintenance of the code base, load testing and CI/CD automation.

    Sam’s previous experience includes work with IBM Cairo, Bravvura Inc, New York City and INTDV, Cairo.

    Sam holds a BSc degree in Computer Science from Misr International University, Egypt

    Jacqueline Lao

    Senior Engineer, Mobile

    Profile

    Jacqueline has 8 years’ experience in web and mobile app  development across a variety of industry verticals including financial services and health care.  Her experience includes prototyping and implementation of new mobile app features, QA testing using both manual and automated methods as well as troubleshooting and maintaining mobile apps. 

    As part of the SugoSure engineering team, Jacqueline is responsible for mobile app development on android and iOS platfofrms.   She works closely with other team members on SugoSure backend and 3rd-party integrations and is also responsible for ensuring that end-user look and feel meets SugoSure’s stringent design requirements. 

    Jacqueline works from Manila, Philippines.  She has a BS in Computer Science from the University of the Philippines.

    & CLINICAL TEAM​

    Dr Tan Chee Eng

    Medical Advisor, Diabetes

    Profile

    Dr Tan, Consultant Endocrinologist at Gleneagles Medical Centre Singapore, is Advisor to ConnectedHealth for Diabetes and has been closely involved with the design of SugoSure from inception.  

    He has been managing patients with diabetes mellitus, cholesterol problems and obesity for the past 21 years and is a firm believer in the benefits of exercise, nutrition and lifestyle changes in management of chronic metabolic diseases.

    Dr Tan was formerly Head of Endocrinology at Singapore General Hospital, where he started the first Lipid unit in Singapore and also pioneered the electronic medical record for diabetes mellitus consultation.

    Dr Tan holds an MBBS and Masters in Internal Medicine from the National University of Singapore and a PhD from the University of Glasgow.  He is a founder member of the Executive Council for the Asian Pacific Society of Atherosclerosis and Vascular Disease and was previously involved in both the Lipid Guidelines and Diabetes guidelines committees of the Ministry of Health, Singapore.

    Dr Kevin Tan Eng Kiat

    Medical Advisor, Diabetes

    Dr Kevin Tan is Consultant Diabetologist and Endocrinologist based primarily at Mt Elizabeth Medical Centre, Singapore.  As a member of ConnectedHealth’s Singapore Medical Advisory Board he advises the company on clinical issues

    Dr Tan is a keen diabetes educator and lectures extensively on diabetes, thyroid problems and other endocrine/hormone issues. He is also Vice-President of Diabetes Singapore, a member of the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He was a member of the National Diabetes Strategy Advisory Committee and now sits on Advisory Boards to various pharmaceutical companies.

    Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1987 and is a fellow with both the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine in Singapore.  He was trained locally at Singapore General, Alexandra and Tan Tock Seng Hospitals as well as the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK.

    Dr. Bee Yong Mong

    Medical Advisor, Diabetes

    Dr. Bee is currently Head and Senior Consultant with the Department of Endocrinology at Singapore General Hospital (SGH).  He is also Head of the  SingHealth Duke-NUS Diabetes Centre and has more than 15 years experience in treating patients with diabetes.

    He graduated from the National University of Singapore and received specialist training in Endocrinology both locally and in USA. He has a keen interest in integrating technology-enabled solutions in routine diabetes care and is currently working on several projects with industry partners. 

    Dr Bee is also Vice-President of Diabetes Singapore. As a member of  ConnectedHealth’s  Medical Advisory Board, he advises the company on clinical issues.

    Lim Mui Lan

    Health Coach

    Profile

    Mui Lan is a registered nurse with more than 40 years’ experience in patient care in Singapore and Australia. Most recently, Mui Lan spent 8 years as a Diabetic Nurse Educator at Changi General Hospital where she helped patients across all areas of diabetes care.

    Mui Lan’s deep practical experience allows her to support patients with specific advice on how to better control blood glucose levels through lifestyle changes. Having worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team she naturally collaborates with physicians, dieticians and other clinical staff to provide relevant patient support in line with care plans.

    Mui Lan’s experience also includes a significant amount of educational work – explaining the disease process, medications and how to prevent complications in a way which patients can immediately relate to.

    In her earlier career, Mui Lan worked as Senior Staff Nurse in a variety or roles, as a Nurse Manager at SingHealth Polyclinics and as a Parent Craft Nurse Educator. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) degree from Curtin University of Technology.

    Dr Cindy Ng

    Advisor, Lifestyle Plans – Diabetes

    Profile

    Dr Cindy Ng is Principal Physiotherapist and Clinical Coordinator at the Obesity Metabolic Unit of Singapore General Hospital’s (SGH) Lifestyle Improvement and Fitness Enhancement (LIFE) Centre. 

    Dr Ng has a keen interest in exercise physiology and the impact of exercise on chronic disease. She works with multi-disciplinary teams at SGH LIFE Centre to promote integrated and holistic care for patients with multiple co-morbidities.

    Besides using evidence-based approaches, Dr Ng believes in empowering patients to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Dr Ng has been extensively involved in research pertaining to Obesity, Diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease as well as Eating Disorders, with several peer-reviewed journal publications.

    She obtained her PhD (Physiotherapy) from Curtin University in 2014. Dr Ng is also an Assistant Professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology and on the teaching faculty for the SGH Postgraduate Allied Health Institute.

    Michele Wong

    Advisor, Lifestyle Plans – Diabetes

    Profile

    Michele is Co-Founder of NutriWerkz Pte Ltd (a private nutrition consultancy and cooking school), Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) and Accredited Practicing Nutritionist (APN) from Australia. 

    Michele has 9 years’ direct experience in clinical nutrition at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. Her area of nutrition focus included metabolic health, particularly diet-intervention in metabolic diseases and energy metabolism research. 

    Michele holds a Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics from Flinders University of South Australia and is a certified Sports Dietitian with Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA). She also has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Southern Cross University, Australia and is a member of the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association.
